Nevada’s Hover Dam
The Hoover Dam was built between 1931and 1936. It was built during the Great Depression.
The Hoover Dam was built in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the bolder between the U.S. states of Arizona and Nevada.
Two people designed the Hoover Dam. Their names are Henry J. Kaiser and Gordon Kaufman.
Thousands of construction workers built the Hoover Dam out of concrete, and it cost 100 workers their lives.
The Hoover Dam was built to prevent flooding and to provide power to California, Arizona, and Nevada.
The Hoover Dam is important to me because hundreds of people risked their lives to prevent flooding and to provide power to many states. Without the Hoover Dam we would probably have more floods and many states would have less power.
Those are some reasons why I think the Hoover Dam is important to me!
