Description: The Valley of Fire Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution will hold its 22nd Annual Unserviceable Flag Retirement Ceremony on Saturday, May 3rd. 2014 at the Southern Nevada Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, located at 1900 Buchanan Drive in Boulder City, at 10 a.m. Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, Gold Star Wives, Blue Star Families, the Green Valley High School Madrigal Singers, Red Rock Renegade Pipers, Sons of the American Revolution, and Children of the American Revolution, the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts of Southern Nevada and more will be supporting this important event. We urge the public to attend this moving ceremony, which was begun over 22 years ago, by the Valley of Fire Chapter. Members of the Veterans’ groups and other organizations are especially encouraged to be present, as we demonstrate the proper way to fold and dispose of unserviceable United States Flags. If you have a tattered or torn American flag that should no longer be in use and would like for us to appropriately dispose of it for you, please bring it with you to the ceremony. Directions: If coming from Las Vegas, when you arrive in Boulder City, turn right at the first traffic light onto Veterans’ Memorial Drive. Follow it all the way down to Buchannan and turn right. Proceed to the Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery which will also be located on your right and turn into the Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery follow the road the Chapel. The service will take place in the Chapel.
