Time: 4:00 PM
Location: Carson City Community Center. 815 E. William Street. Carson City, NV. (Carson City)
Description: In celebration of Nevada’s 150th year and the orchestra’s 30th season, Carson City Symphony Association has commissioned composer Carson Cooman to write a new orchestral work. We will perform the premiere on the April 27 concert, and also bring the composer to Carson City for outreach activities with the public. The composer proposes a fanfare or orchestral overture of 3 to 5 minutes, tentatively titled “Sagebrush Celebration,” with a theme that uses the name “Carson City” converted into musical note codes. The concert also will include a performance for violin and orchestra with guest soloist Andrew Sords, and other works to be determined. A concert preview will be held with Conductor David Bugli, composer Carson Cooman, and violinist Andrew Sords to discuss the program. Tickets will be $15, with $3 discount for students and seniors, and free for violin students and youth age 16 and under.
