Description: The Wild Humorist of the Pacific Slope returns to Sparks in“Mark Twain’s Sesquicentennial Salute to Nevada.” McAvoy Layne, more affectionately known as the Ghost of Mark Twain, kicks off a year of celebrations in Sparks for Nevada’s 150th Birthday. In over four thousand lively performances from Leningrad University in Russia to Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City, McAvoy Layne has been preeminent in preserving the wit & wisdom of “The Wild Humorist of the Pacific Slope,” Mark Twain. McAvoy is the ghost of Samuel Clemens in A&E’s biography of Mark Twain, and in the Discovery Channel’s Cronkite Award winning documentary, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He is a winner of the Nevada award for excellence in school and library service, and author of a soon to be published memoir, Becoming Mark Twain.  Mark Twain was in Nevada from 1860-1864, then back for lecture tours in 1866 & 1868. The tales that will be told about the time when Nevada forged forward to become a State are sure to keep us riveted to our seats. The Sparks Museum & Cultural Center is happy to welcome back Mark Twain, whose first visit to the area was before the arrival of the railroad, when current day Sparks was little more than a trading post in the swampy expanses of the eastern Truckee Meadows. Tickets which include Museum admission are $20 for Adults. $15 for Museum Members. $10 for Students.  All proceeds go to support the Sparks Heritage Museum
