Description: Join William D. Rowley, PhD, as he examines the transformation of Nevada from what Comstock journalist Alfred S. Doten called a “territory good for mining but not worth living in” into the modern state we live in today. Professor Rowley’s program complements “Can You Dig It? Building Nevada,” now on display in the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center . The exhibit which will be on display on the 3rd Floor of the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center through January 31, 2014, highlights historical materials from Special Collections, telling the stories of larger-than-life, ambitious projects that built the infrastructure for farming, mining, transportation, and the development of cities and a state university.
